Fibonacci Spiral - Yellow Center; Oil; 24x24"; Available
These two paintings are the opposite of each other. The center of the one on top is the outer most part of the one below, and the center of the one below is the outer most part of the one on top. The color mixtures and the proportions were created using the mathmatical proportiions of Fibonacci's Golden Mean. ( every number contains the two before ~ 1 1 2 3 5 8 13 21 34 etc. and then I used the ratio of that sequence, ie 5 divided by 8)...
On the lighter side, the one on top, Fibonacci Spiral, Yellow Center, appeared in Saks Fifth Avenue's advertising campaign, "Live a Little".
Fibonacci Spiral - Blue Center; Oil; 24x24"; Available
The two paintings on the right were directly inspired by Jackson Pollock's New York Action Paintings. The paintings were on the floor next to each other when I painted them. I splattered acrylic, watercolor and oil paints, threw on black ink and also drew with pastel. Both are painted on stretched canvas.... No frame is necessary, the outside is painted black. The technique I used most was free association. One spatter led to another. One stroke to another. Trying to be in a trance and in the moment at all times....
